POLICE ARREST FORMER DG OF IMO STATE BROADCASTING CORPORATION FOR KILLING HIS WIFE
A retired Director-General of Imo State Broadcasting Corporation, Mr Theophilus Okere, 82, has been arrested for killing his wife.
The suspect allegedly fatally stabbed his wife, Mrs Beatrice Okere in Imerienwe community within the Ngor- Okpala Local Government Area of Imo state.
According to reports, the deceased was rushed to an undisclosed hospital by the indigenes of the community, but she did not survive her wounds.
The Imo State police command confirming the arrest said preliminary investigations revealed that after killing his wife, the 82-year old ran away until the security officers arrested him.
Sources in the community told reporters that Mr Theophilus had been showing signs of dementia in recent times.
The Imo state Commissioner of Police Isaac Akinmoyede said the outcome of the ongoing investigation would determine if the suspect will be charged to court.
