IMMIGRATION NAB WOMAN ATTEMPTING TO TRAFFIC TWO UNDERAGE GIRLS TO NIGER REPUBLIC
A 25-year-old woman named Rukaya Hassan has been arrested by the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) llela border command in Sokoto for attempting to traffic two underage girls to Niger Republic.
The woman, a resident of the Giribshi area of Sokoto, claimed that she did not know the two young girls and that they were handed over to her by another woman in Sokoto named Maman Adnan, who paid for their transport to Niger. She revealed that the woman requested her to take the two girls to another woman in Niger named Amina Yunusa, who would give them jobs in her restaurant in Niamey.
The girls explained that they were going to Niger to work in a restaurant although they did not know the owner and that their parents approved of the trip.
Meanwhile, the victims have been handed over to the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for further investigation.
