The State's Commissioner for Local Government, Community Development, Chieftaincy Affairs and Internal Security, Emmanuel Umar, who made the disclosure to newsmen, stated that the demolition was done under heavy security presence.

He said the structure comprises a completed two bedroom flat where he was occupying with his family members and another two bedroom flat yet to be completed.

Umar revealed a resident of the State informed security operatives about the suspicious activities of the suspect, which prompted his arrest and subsequent demolition of the house.

The Commissioner, who said the suspect has been transferred to Abuja for discreet investigation, assured residents of the state that Governor Abubakar Sani Bello is determined to protect lives and property and rid the state of criminal elements.

He said; "What you are seeing behind is a proceed of crime.

"The building is owned by a kidnapper that has been arrested and since it is our policy not to allow criminality reign in the state, the law enforcement agencies in partnership with the state government are so happy to have established this."

Meanwhile, the Niger State police command has arrested a notorious kidnapper identified as Muhammad Adamu.

The arrested suspect confessed to have led a syndicate to kidnap staff of the University of Abuja last week.
