NIGERIAN LAWYER AND HUMAN RIGHTS ACTIVIST FEMI FALANA, JOINS SOWORE'S #REVOLITIONNOW DIGITAL PROTEST
Nigeria's lawyer and human rights activist Femi Falana on Saturday, 5 joined the digital #revolutionnow protest organised by a former presidential aspirant and pro-democracy campaigner Yele Sowore.
Femi Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), accused the Buhari-led administration of unleashing economic violence on the citizens amid the COVID 19 pandemic through all manner of levies and taxes at a time when other nations are giving palliatives to their citizens.
Falana said despite Nigeria's enormous natural and human resources, the country is one of the most backward nations in Africa and the world because the nation's economy has been seized by "political buccaneers and economic saboteurs".
Speaking on the country seeking for loans to run the economy, the human rights lawyer said the government is piling up loans while the executive and legislature has refused to respond to some of the allegations regarding the mismanagement of the economy.
Citing a $62 billion International Oil Company (IOC) royalties fund which the Supreme Court ordered the Federal government to recover and an $18 billion NLNG fund meant for the federation account, Falana said the country has at least a total of $80 billion which is higher than the external loan of $27 billion.

Falana tasked Nigerian youths not just to protest, but to arm themselves with information to ask the right questions.
The #revolutionnow online protest which was held on Zoom, was joined by over 1,000 people, including the Ugandan activist Bobi Wine.
