NOTORIOUS GANG LEADER "JANARE" APPREHENDED IN KANO, ALONGSIDE SEVEN ACCOMPLICES
The Kano State Police Command achieves a significant breakthrough in crime prevention with the arrest of Ibrahim Rabiu, also known as "Janare," the 27-year-old mastermind behind a gang of over 200 youths. This gang, notorious for armed robberies and extortion, had been terrorizing Katsina Road and Kurna Quarters in Kano.
On November 9, 2023, Janare orchestrated criminal activities, blocking the Kano to Katsina road and areas around Kurna Quarters. The gang extorted money from numerous individuals and motorists, while also engaging in robbery and property vandalism. Victims reported demands of one thousand Naira for passage, causing widespread hardship and fear among the public.
Janare's apprehension resulted from a dedicated team of Anti-Daba Operatives, led by SP Hussaini Gimba, in an intelligence-led operation. Seven of his accomplices were also arrested during the operation: Aminu Adamu (Danye), Halifa Bashir (Dan Halifa), Jamilu Mas’udu (Mai Niger), Abubakar Surajo (Halifa), Ahmad Surajo (Dandolo), Muftahu Surajo, and Ibrahim Surajo (Abba).
Various exhibits were recovered during the operation, including two unregistered motorcycles, three Papalow swords, four cutlasses, five parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp, one hundred and thirty-five exol tablets, ten sachets of Diazepam tablets, one hundred and fifty pieces of rubber solution, and twenty-seven potwin injections. The suspects will face charges in court upon completion of the investigation.
