OFFICER KILLED AS POLICE, HOOLDLUMS CLASH IN OYO
A police officer has lost his life following a conflict that ensued between hoodlums and the operatives of Oyo State Police Command on 25th April 2023 along Moniya, Akinyele LGA, Oyo State.
The information available indicates that the officers who were on a Stop and Search around a major black spot flagged down an Ash-coloured Lexus 350 Jeep with a faintly inscribed worn-off number which initially slowed down in compliance with the directive. About getting to the officers, he eventually picked up speed and dashed off to evade the officers on duty.
Following such suspicious driving, the police officers tracked the occupants of the vehicle in a bid to establish further clarity of facts.

The Lexus Jeep swerved off the road to a nearby garage at a meter away from the stoppage point and drove directly into the waiting hands of hoodlums who were collaborators in the criminal operation. They functioned as an obstruction to the officers from discharging their duties thereby aiding the escape of the SUV and its Occupants.
Consequently, the hoodlums attacked the officers, and forcefully dragged the rifle from one of the officers and a shot was discharged from the barrel during the process of the struggle and blew the skull of the officer on the spot.
Meanwhile, the incident resulted in arresting seven persons with 12 motorcycles impounded while the body of the officer has been deposited at the State Morgue for Post-mortem.
