POLICE RAID KIDNAPPER'S HIDEOUT IN AVU-IHIAGWA FOREST, ARREST FIVE SUSPECTS

In a coordinated effort between the Imo State Police Command's Special Tactical Unit, led by Commissioner of Police CP Aboki Danjuma, and local hunters, a suspected kidnapper's hideout in the dense Avu-Ihiagwa Forest was raided on 29/01/2024. The operation resulted in the apprehension of five suspected kidnappers hailing from Jau LGA of Jigawa State: Muazu Awuta (30), Abdullahi Abubakar (32), Ozeru Sabo (25), Saddam Suleiman (27), and Bashir Yahaya (28).


Acting on credible intelligence, law enforcement personnel and local hunters combed through the forest, leading to the discovery of two decomposing bodies believed to be kidnapped victims. Additionally, various items such as telephones, wristwatches, shoes, and slippers were recovered from the scene. The command plans to conduct further DNA tests to confirm the identities of the deceased.


Furthermore, five operational motorcycles belonging to the suspected kidnappers were seized during the operation. While the arrested suspects are currently undergoing investigation, they have reportedly provided valuable information that could lead to the capture of other criminal syndicates involved in similar activities.


The Imo State Police Command remains dedicated to eradicating all forms of crime and criminality within the state. Intense operations continue in the Avu-Ihiagwa Forest and other identified black spots as part of ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and security of residents. This successful collaboration between law enforcement agencies and local communities highlights the effectiveness of proactive measures in combating criminal activities.
