SUSPECTED TERRORIST BLOWS UP SELF TO EVADE ARREST
As radar to counter-insurgency continues in the northern region of the federation, a middle-aged man, suspected to be a terrorist, blew himself with an improvised explosive device (IED) at the wee hour of Monday 15th May 2023 at Keke community, Chikun LGA, Kaduna state.
The information available indicates that a combined team of policemen, personnel of DSS, and soldiers trailed the suspect who has been on the radar of security agencies to his hideout, encircled him in his hideout apartment, and engrossed the suspect in a gun battle.
Consequently, the suspect sensed that the security operatives were closing in on him, and would lead to his arrest, the suspected terrorist finds a quick alternative of blowing himself up with an improvised explosive device to evade the security operatives' arrest.
Meanwhile, An AK-47 rifle was recovered inside the victim's apartment, along with two other live explosive devices, that were later safely detonated by the anti-bomb squad of the Kaduna State Police Command.
The suspect's mutilated body was later evacuated from the scene by security operatives, while his wife and children have been taken away for further investigation.
