Troops Eliminate Eight Insurgents in Borno Clearance Operation
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have killed eight suspected terrorists during a coordinated clearance operation in Kayamla and Sojiri villages of Borno State.
Security sources disclosed that the operation, known as Desert Sanity V, involved joint patrols and search missions aimed at flushing out elements of the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS/ISWAP) believed to be hiding in the area.
According to a report by Zagazola Makama, OPHK troops, working alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), engaged the insurgents in a fierce exchange of gunfire. Eight terrorists were neutralised during the encounter, while others escaped, abandoning weapons including AK-47 rifles and other personal arms.
No casualties were recorded among the troops, and no military equipment was damaged in the operation.
Sources added that security forces have sustained patrols and follow-up operations in nearby locations to prevent the remaining insurgents from regrouping.
