TROOPS KILL 50 BANDITS IN NIGER STATE
About 50 bandits were killed in a gun attack that ensued between the troops and armed bandits on 13th August 2023 along Zungeru-Tegina Road, Niger State.
The information available indicates that the soldiers were on their way to some communities recently attacked by bandits in Wushishi LGA when they encountered the bandits on their patrol journey which led to a gun battle. Some banditry members also sustained varying degrees of gunshot injuries as they were fleeing the battlefront.
Consequently, about 20 soldiers and three vigilante members died in the gun battle, and seven other soldiers and five vigilante operatives sustained varying degrees of gunshot injuries and were taken to the IBB Specialist Hospital, Minna, Niger State capital.
Meanwhile, the senator representing the Niger East Senatorial District, Mohammed Sani Musa has urged the federal government to deploy more soldiers to the affected area to curtail further attacks.
