Bandits Hit Kano Again -25 Kidnapped, Two Injured in Midnight Raid

No fewer than 25 people have been kidnapped and two others injured after armed bandits launched a late-night assault on Unguwar Tsamiya in Faruruwa village and the neighbouring Dabawa community, all in Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State.

The attack, which occurred on Sunday night, came less than a day after gunmen invaded Yan Kamaye community in Tsanyawa LGA—another border settlement near Katsina State—where three residents were taken.

Witnesses said the gunmen arrived at the communities around midnight and opened fire indiscriminately, forcing residents to flee for safety. The attackers reportedly whisked away dozens of villagers during the raid, leaving two people with varying degrees of injuries.

Speaking with journalists, the spokesperson to the Chairman of Shanono LGA, Ammar Wakili, confirmed the incident but noted that full details were still being compiled.

“We can confirm that the attack took place, but we are still gathering accurate information before issuing an official statement,” Wakili said.

The repeated assaults have intensified anxiety among residents of border communities between Kano and Katsina, many of whom have faced frequent bandit incursions in recent months. The latest attack adds to growing concerns over rising insecurity in the region.
