ABDULRASHEED MAINA COLLAPSES IN COURT DURING TRAIL (VIDEO)

Former Chairman of the defuct Pension Reform Task Force Team, Abdulrasheed Maina on Thursday, December 10, collapsed in court during his trial.



The ex pension boss who is facing a 12-count money laundering charge leveled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) fled trial after securing bail.

Maina was granted bail after spending over 7 months at the Like Correctional Centre after Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South stood as surety for him with a N500 million bail bond.


He fled trial and his whereabouts was unknown since his prosecution resumed on September 29, 2020, a development which made Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court in Abuja order the remand of Senator Ndume, who was later released after spending 5 days at the Kuje Correctional Centre.

After series of man hunt operations, Maina was apprehended by operatives of the Nigerian Intelligence Agency and the Niger Republic Intelligence Service on December 1 in the Niger Republic.


He was extradited on Thursday, December 3 from the Niger Rep and produced in court on Friday.


During the ruling on Friday, the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the remand of Maina in prison, till the end of his trial.
