Troops Repel Multiple Terrorist Attacks in Borno and Yobe, Neutralize Over 50 Insurgents
Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have successfully repelled coordinated terrorist attacks across multiple locations within the Joint Operations Area in the early hours of October 23, 2025.
According to a military statement, the attacks, which occurred between midnight and 4:00 a.m., targeted troop positions in Dikwa, Mafa, Gajibo (Borno State), and Katarko (Yobe State). The troops, displaying exceptional bravery and professionalism, fought back fiercely and dealt the terrorists a “decisive and bloody blow.”
The ground operations were reinforced by precision airstrikes from the Air Component Command of OPHK, with support from Theatre Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) assets. This joint effort reportedly led to the neutralization of over 50 terrorists, while several others, believed to be wounded, are currently being pursued by ground forces.
Recovered items include 38 AK-47 rifles, seven PKT machine guns, five RPG tubes, two GPMGs, hand grenades, and thousands of assorted rounds of ammunition. Intelligence reports indicate that the attackers in Dikwa and Gajibo infiltrated from the Cameroon axis, while those who struck Katarko emerged from the Timbuktu Triangle, a notorious terrorist enclave.
While a few soldiers sustained injuries and are said to be in stable condition, the military also confirmed that some vehicles and buildings were damaged in Mafa and Dikwa following the terrorists’ use of armed drones and RPGs.
The Military High Command has lauded the courage and resilience of the troops, emphasizing that their performance reaffirms the armed forces’ unwavering commitment to defending Nigeria’s territorial integrity. The statement also noted that more personnel and advanced combat enablers have been deployed to strengthen ongoing counterterrorism operations across the northeast.
