24 NIGERIANS ARRESTED FOR ILLEGAL ENTRY INTO GHANA
The Customs Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS), Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, have arrested 24 Nigerians Arrested For entering Ghana through unapproved and illegal Routes.
The immigrants include 5 females and 19 males.
They admitted entering the country but refused to give reasons for their entry.
Chief Superintendent, Mr Shadrach Azangweo, South Tongu District Commander of the Ghana Immigration Service, confirmed this in a statement made to reporters yesterday.
He said that the Nigerians would be moved to Aflao to assist in further investigations.
"None of them has been able to give a good reason for crossing into the country having breached our immigration laws and we intend to send them to Aflao for further investigations," he said.
Azangweo said the immigrants had their temperatures taken during initial investigations, adding that they would likely be quarantined at Aflao.
He said the culprits were assisted by 'Okada' riders and public transport drivers to the point of arrest.
The Chief Superintendent warned drivers and Okada riders who facilitate the movement of West African nationals into the country.
He said that they would continue to endanger their life and members of the public for possible infection of COVID-19.
