$275 Million Boost: US Strengthens Ukraine's Defense Against Russia
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Wednesday announced a fresh $275 million support package from the United States, which includes drones, ammunition for HIMARS and artillery, as well as other critical military supplies.
The package, which Zelenskyy described as the 70th defence aid provided by the US, was confirmed via his official social media handle.
“The United States has announced a new support package worth $275 million. It includes drones, ammunition for HIMARS and artillery, and—critically—essential mines to stop Russian assaults. This will significantly strengthen our troops on the front lines,” Zelenskyy said.
Expressing gratitude for the consistent US support, he added, “Ukraine deeply values the bipartisan support from America and the decision of President Biden. We are grateful for standing with us.”
The Ukrainian leader also highlighted the ongoing threat posed by Russian attacks, urging citizens to remain vigilant. “We have already experienced so many cruel and vile attacks from Russia, so raid alerts should always be heeded,” he cautioned.
Marking the 1,001st day of the war, Zelenskyy criticized Russia’s continued aggression. “We have that kind of neighbour—insane. Today, on the 1,001st day of a full-scale war, Russia is just as insane as it was on the 1,000th day and on February 24,” he remarked, dismissing panic-inducing messages as counterproductive.
Meanwhile, Zelenskyy assured the nation that efforts to bolster Ukraine's air defence systems are ongoing to counter Russian aggression.
