
Army Crushes Terrorists, Rescues Hostages and Seizes Weapons in Nationwide Operations
The Nigerian Army has intensified its counter-terrorism campaign with a series of coordinated operations across the country, neutralising insurgents, rescuing kidnapped victims, arresting criminal collaborators, and seizing large caches of weapons and stolen crude oil between September 26 and 28, 2025.
According to operational reports, troops eliminated several terrorists, rescued five kidnap victims, arrested 19 suspects, and recovered seven AK-47 rifles, a berretta pistol, two fabricated rifles, assorted ammunition, and over 4,000 litres of stolen crude oil during the nationwide offensive.
In the North East, soldiers of 195 and 222 Battalions struck terrorist hideouts in Mafa and Konduga Local Government Areas of Borno State, killing nine insurgents and capturing four AK-47 rifles, magazines, ammunition, and hard drugs. Similarly, troops of 232 Battalion in Adamawa arrested a suspected ISWAP/JAS fighter and recovered an AK-47 rifle with 19 rounds of ammunition, while two family members of ISWAP terrorists surrendered to troops in Bama.
In the North West, troops of 8 Division and 17 Brigade intensified raids in Zamfara, Sokoto, and Katsina States. Three suspected terrorist logistics suppliers were arrested in Shinkafi and Kankara with cash, motorcycles, drugs, and other supplies. Soldiers in Sabon Birni, Sokoto State, also intercepted fleeing terrorists and seized an AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and 51 rounds of ammunition.
Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke in Benue rescued two abducted Immigration Service personnel in Katsina-Ala and recovered a berretta pistol, ammunition, and 29 mobile phones during a crackdown on criminal elements.
In Kogi State, soldiers of 12 Brigade, working with police and local vigilantes, engaged kidnappers in Okene, Kabba Bunu, and Omalla LGAs, freeing four victims and neutralising an armed herder. Two AK-47 rifles, magazines, and ammunition were also recovered.
In the Federal Capital Territory, troops of 102 Guards Battalion apprehended five suspected kidnappers in Bwari’s Dei-Dei area while they posed as police officers. Items seized included two fabricated AK-47 rifles, cartridges, radios, mobile phones, and identity cards.
In the South-South, troops of 16 Brigade and Sector 3 of Operation Delta Safe dismantled multiple illegal refining sites at JK4, Edegberr, and Abiama Obeama communities in Rivers State, seizing over 4,000 litres of stolen crude oil along with ovens, receivers, and other refining equipment. In Edo State, soldiers of 4 Brigade rescued a kidnapped victim during a gun battle in Esan South East LGA as the attackers fled into the forest.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating terrorism and violent crimes nationwide, pledging to protect communities, ensure the safety of law-abiding citizens, and create a secure environment for agriculture and economic development in line with the Federal Government’s drive for food security.
