Army Debunks Abduction Rumour as Troops Fight Through Ambush in Borno

Troops of the 25 Task Force Brigade survived a heavy ambush by terrorists near Wajiroko in Azir Multe, Damboa LGA of Borno State, while returning from a routine patrol around the Sambisa Forest axis.

The patrol team, led by Brigadier General M. Uba, came under intense fire but fought their way out using superior firepower, forcing the insurgents to flee and abandon their mission. Personnel from the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) were also part of the operation.

The Nigerian Army confirmed that two soldiers and two CJTF members were killed in the encounter. The Army High Command commended the troops for their bravery and extended condolences to the families of the fallen personnel.

The Army also dismissed circulating claims that the Brigade Commander was abducted during the ambush, urging the public to disregard the false reports.

Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, praised the resilience and sacrifice of troops serving in one of the country’s most dangerous operational theatres, reaffirming the Army’s commitment to ongoing counterinsurgency operations.
