COVID-19 LOCKDOWN : EGBE OMO OGUN RERE (EOOR) DONATES FOOD ITEMS TO INDIGENES

To cushion the effect of lockdown order in Ogun State following the 14 days extension by President Muhammadu Buhari, a sociocultural group in Ogun state called the Egbe Omo Ogun Rere (EOOR), has commenced the distribution of packaged food items to the vulnerable indigenes. 


EOOR in a statement released by its Publicity Secretary, Omooba Segun Adewale, on Friday 17th April, reads:


"Executive council and the entire members of the group under the Chairmanship of Rt Hon Titi Oseni-Gomez, consider the provision of the food item to the vulnerable members of the public a matter of urgency in other to bring relief to the not so privilege persons who have to experience the socio-economic hardship reality of the COVID -19 stay at home order."

 

"The group noted that it had earlier embarked on a COVID - 19 Awareness and Advocacy Campaign on the reality of the novel disease and safety precautions to follow to avoid coming in contact with the virus".


"However, during its review meeting, members agreed on the need to provide food items to the vulnerable as its own support to whatever the governments is doing at this challenging time".


"Omooba Segun Adewale said the group had carefully deliberated on the modalities for distributing these items to the beneficiaries while it also tries to avoid a counter-productive COVID- 19 safety rules during distribution".


"He, therefore, explained that the 3KG rice package per person will be given out and distributed to individuals who call-in on selected radio programmes, on selected radio stations. This, he said, will help in reaching out to people without compromising or breaching the social distancing rule of staying safe from the virus".

 

"He listed the selected programmes and radio stations people can call to benefit from the food package to include: IGBADUN EXPRESS"on ROOTfm 97.1 every Monday btw 12:30pm -2pm, AYEKOOTO on SWEETfm 107.1 every Fridays 5-7PM, LA WOLE SUN on also on SWEET 107. btw 9 - 10pm. FAAJI N FLOW on OGBC 90.5 FM every Thursdays 8:15 - 9pm and LAWUJO ERANKO ATI EYE every Wednesdays 9:30 – 10PM. Also, Goke Babalola on FRESH fm 107.9 at 7.30 to 9pm, on Mondays".


"In her words, the chairman of Egbe Omo Ogun Rere, Rt hon Titi Oseni-Gomez was quoted in the statement as saying "more paliative support that will go round the three senatorial districts is being arranged for more indigenes of Ogun state during this period". While advising memberes of the public to adhere strictly to governments directive to stay at home and maintain all the precautionary measures adviced".
