#ENDSARS AFTERMATH: LAWYER MOECHIEVOUS AIRPORT TRAVAIL SPARKS RUMOUR OF A GOVERNMENT’S ‘NO-FLY’ LIST

The recent travail of Modupe Odele, a Nigerian lawyer who secured the release of #endsars protesters at the hands of security operatives at a Lagos airport, has sparked rumours that the Federal Government has compiled a no-fly list filled with young people who were most vocal during the #endsars protests.

On Sunday, November 1, men suspected to be from the Department of State Security DSS stopped Miss Modupe Odele popularly referred to as Moe from flying and allegedly seized her international passport.

Although the reason the lady lawyer was stopped from flying is yet to be ascertained, many have linked the incident to her involvement in the #endsars protest- lending credence to rumours that the government has compiled a no-fly list of vocal #endsars protesters.

Recall that Moe was the lawyer who organised several lawyers across the country to facilitate the release of End Sars protesters who were detained in police stations.

However, the ministry of interior has strongly debunked the claim of a no-fly list terming such report as fake news.

“The Ministry of Interior did not, has not and will not generate any no-fly list,” the ministry said on Tuesday, November 3.

Moe has released a statement confirming that she was prevented from travelling on Sunday, November 1 but cautioned her 225 thousand followers on Twitter to avoid spreading unfounded news as she is yet to ascertain the reason for the development.

“Hello everyone. Thank you so much. I’m fine and I’m safe. We haven’t confirmed yet why I was stopped on Sunday or by whom. But I’ve been invited back in with my lawyers today. I’ll update when I have more information but please don’t spread false news. That is dangerous,” Moe said in a statement released on Twitter.
