FG EVACUATES 117 NIGERIANS FROM THREE EAST AFRICAN COUNTRIES

The Federal Government has evacuated 117 stranded Nigerians in three East African countries due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.


This was announced by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission via its official Twitter handle.


This comes 24 hours after 212 evacuees landed in Nigeria from Egypt.


The evacuees from Rwanda, Uganda, and Tanzania arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, earlier today, August 2nd, 2020.


The repatriation flight was conducted by a Nigerian airline, Azman Air.


The evacuees, who tested negative to COVID-19 are expected to proceed on a mandatory 14-day isolation as directed by the Federal Government and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

Recall that the COVID-19 PTF Chairman, Boss Mustapha, has said all passengers coming into Nigeria would undergo COVID-19 tests before being released to join the public.


Last week, Abike Dabiri-Erewa said the Federal Government has evacuated over 6000 Nigerians from more than 21 countries since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic that emerged in Wuhan, China, in December 2019.
