Ghana Deports 42 Nigerians Over Prostitution, Fraud Offences

The Ghanaian authorities have deported no fewer than 42 Nigerian nationals from the Ashanti Region after they were convicted by various courts for offences including prostitution, fraud, and related criminal activities.

The announcement was made by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Frank Amoakohene, through his official social media channels.

According to the minister, the deportation exercise also involved other foreign nationals, comprising 13 Cameroonians, three Ivorians, three Burkinabe nationals, and seven citizens of Benin.

Amoakohene explained that the affected individuals were returned to their respective countries following court rulings connected to Q-Net operations, prostitution, and other unlawful acts. He commended the Ghana Immigration Service for its professionalism, diligence, and commitment to enforcing immigration regulations while observing due process and respect for human dignity.

He further noted that the continued cooperation between immigration officials, the judiciary, and other security agencies has contributed significantly to strengthening public safety, protecting vulnerable persons, and maintaining law and order in the Ashanti Region.

The deportation of the Nigerian nationals comes amid increasing reports of heightened scrutiny and arrests of Nigerians in several countries abroad.
