IMMIGRATION NABS TWO LADIES TRYING TO TRAVEL TO EGYPT WITH TAMPERED INTERNATIONAL PASSPORTS
Nigeria Immigration Service officers on Thursday apprehended two ladies who were trying to travel to Cairo, Egypt with tampered International passports.
The ladies, identified as Adebayo Kolapo Kazeem and Babalola Kehinde were caught traveling under fake identities when the Migration Information and Data Analysis System (MIDAS) showed a man's picture on their passport chips.
On further interrogation, the ladies confessed to the immigration officers that a travel agent named 'Muri' arranged their journey and gave them the tampered passports, an offense punishable under the Immigration Act 2015 on offenses related to aiding, identity theft, and tampering of passport.
Eons Intelligence gathered that all efforts to reach the passport agent named Muri proved abortive as he did not answer his phone.
The Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service Muhammad Babandede MFR has ordered a thorough investigation into the case to expose the syndicate behind the fake passports.
The passports of the ladies have been confiscated and would be tendered as evidence to prosecute Muri once he is found. The two ladies would also stand as witnesses to prosecute the case against him.
The Comptroller General has also issued a warning to prospective applicants for the Nigerian passport to be weary of criminals who take advantage of desperate applicants to perpetuate crimes like these which could also lead the victims to jail.
