INSECURITY: ARMED BANDITS KILL NINE, INJURE TWO PERSONS IN KADUNA

Nine persons have been killed, while two others sustained life threatening injuries in separate attacks at Chikun, Zangon Kataf and Zaria Local Government Areas of Kaduna State, on Friday. 


According Military and Police reports made available to the Kaduna State Government today, three people were killed when armed bandits barricaded the Buruku-Udawa section of the Kaduna-Birnin-Gwari road in Chikun Local Government Area.


The victims were subsequently identified as: Umma Ibro Kontagora, Abdullahi Noma Kontagora and another yet-to-be identified adult.


One other victim identified as Jamilu Kafinta Udawa, sustained gunshot injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment in hospital. 


In a separate but related incident, armed bandits reportedly killed one Danjuma Maiungwa at Yola-Kadi General Area of Chikun Local Government Area, while leaving one person critically wounded. 


Two other fatalities were recorded in Sako village, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of the State. The victims were identified as Samson Maza and David Garba. 


Two corpses were also recovered by security agents in the Kurfi-Magamiya General Area. The corpses were identified as the remains of Nehemiah Abba and Samuel Gwazah. 


In Zaria Local Government Area, one Alhaji Habibu was shot to death by another set of gun-wielding bandits at a place in Saye village. 


Governor Nasir El-Rufai expressed sadness at these reports and prayed for the repose of the souls of those killed in the attacks, while wishing the injured a speedy recovery. 


The Governor sent his sympathies to the victims' families and called on security forces to intensify operations against criminal elements across the State. 


Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State, Samuel Aruwan confirmed the killings via an official statement in Kaduna on Friday.
