KIDNAPPING: HEALTH WORKERS IN OGUN STATE EMBARK ON STRIKE TO PROTEST AGAINST INSECURITY
Health workers in Ogun State have embarked on strike effective Tuesday midnight to protest the high rate of insecurity in the state.
The health workers in the state under the aegis of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives and Nigerian Medical Association on Monday issued a communique addressed to the Commissioner for Health in the state, Dr. Tomi Coker, where they condemned the lackadaisical attitude of the government towards the release of their colleagues.
Recall two medical personnel were kidnapped in the state on Sunday along the Imeko/Abeokuta road while on their way to their duty post.

The kidnapped victims were later released on Monday while another medical personnel was abducted in the state.
In the communique, titled, “Notification of withdrawal of services’, the NANNM described the approach adopted by the government as appalling.

Dr Oladayo Ogunlaja, the chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association said the strike was a joint resolution between the NMA and NANNM, adding that they are going ahead with the strike despite the release of their abducted colleagues until the government ensures the safety of health workers at their workplaces.
