Killaboi Extradited: NPF Brings Murder Suspect Back from Qatar to Face Justice

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has successfully completed the extradition of Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, popularly known as Killaboi, from Doha, Qatar, to Nigeria to face murder charges.

Nnayereugo, who had been on the run since July 2023 for the murder of 21-year-old Miss Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe, was returned to the country in the early hours of Saturday, April 19, 2025. His extradition was made possible through coordinated efforts between the Federal Ministry of Justice, INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja, and Qatari judicial authorities.

Miss Onuwabhagbe, a first-class student of Lead City University, Ibadan, was murdered at the suspect’s residence in Ajah, Lagos, on July 13, 2023. Following the crime, Nnayereugo fled the country and later posted a video confessing to the act—a move police described as an attempt to derail investigations.

A formal petition submitted by the victim’s family on September 29, 2024, triggered further investigations. INTERPOL NCB Abuja tracked the suspect’s movements across several regions including West Africa, East Asia, and the Middle East. He was found to have used multiple forged identities, including "Kanu Princeton Samuel" in Sierra Leone and "Toure Abdoulaye" in Qatar.

After an initial arrest and escape from custody in Freetown, Sierra Leone in November 2023, Nnayereugo resurfaced in Doha in January 2025 using a fake Guinean passport. He was apprehended in February 2025 by Qatari authorities after his identity was confirmed using advanced biometric technology. A formal extradition request submitted through the Ministry of Justice was approved by Qatari authorities, culminating in his repatriation.

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, praised the international collaboration that led to the fugitive’s capture and return. He commended the diligence of INTERPOL NCB Abuja, the Qatari government, INTERPOL NCB Doha, and the Nigerian Embassy in Qatar for their roles in the process.

The IGP assured Nigerians that the suspect will face diligent prosecution, reaffirming the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering commitment to justice and public safety.
