NIGERIA AT 60: LAGOS STATE SETS TO HOLD LOW-KEY CELEBRATION
The Lagos State Government has said it would be having a low key celebration of Nigeria’s 60th Independence Anniversary.
This was made known on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, in a statement signed by the State’s Commissioner for information, Communication and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso.
He said that the State Government is opting for a small celebration because of the ravaging effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the Commissioner, the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, congratulated all residents of Lagos on the 60th anniversary celebration and urges them to celebrate quietly at home.
The Governor warned all residents to observe all COVID-19 protocols, including wearing of face masks to protect themselves and their loved ones.
He also urged all residents not to relax their vigilance against COVID-19 so as not to frustrate the gains the state has made in fighting the pandemic.
