LAGOS RECORDS OVER 1000 DAILY COVID-19 CASES AMIDST FEAR OF LOCKDOWN
Lagos State on Saturday recorded 1,040 additional COVID-19 cases amidst fear of possible lockdown.
Of the 1,883 additional cases and one death reported by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the nation's commercial hub after recording over half of the daily infections holds its status as the country's epicenter of the infection.
In the data made available by NCDC, Lagos State surpassed the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), second most affected State with 742 cases.
Currently, Nigeria has recorded 130,557 confirmed cases of COVID-19 across the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

As at Saturday, 30th January 2021, 103,712 persons have been discharged after receiving medical treatment and 1,578 have lost their lives to the deadly virus, according to the data by NCDC.
Other states affected on Saturday are: FCT (298), Anambra (86), Rivers (54), Taraba (45), Ogun (42), Oyo (40), Akwa Ibom (38), Sokoto (30), Ebonyi (30), Imo (28), Kaduna (28), Osun (27), Kano (21), Benue (19), Edo (17), Gombe (15), Ekiti (9), Delta (8), Jigawa (3), Kwara (2), Bayelsa (2) and Plateau (1).
Lagos State has recorded 48,919 cases so far, discharged 40,032 patients and confirmed 311 deaths.
Recall that the Federal Government had said it might impose fresh lockdown on major States like Lagos, Kaduna, Abuja, and Plateau anytime soon due to the rising cases of COVID-19.

Dr. Mukhtar Muhammad, National Incident Manager of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, however, made it clear that even if a lockdown is imposed in these states, it will not be total, so as not to completely shut down economic activities.
