LAGOS STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY PASSES BILL TO SENTENCE CULTISTS TO 21 YEARS IMPRISONMENT

The Lagos State House of Assembly has passed a bill to sentence convicted cultists, illegal groups and societies to 21 years imprisonment.


The new law states that a 21- year jail term would be passed across to anyone found guilty of engaging in secret cult societies or any other cult activities in Lagos state.


It also states a 15-year jail term for anyone who accomodate or allows their environment to be used for cultist activities.


For students in the state, the law, which prohibits campus cultism, states that anyone convicted would face a jail term of two years.


Following the passage of the new bill, the Speaker of the state house of assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, asked the clerk, Mr. Olalekan Onafeko to direct the law to Governor Babajide Snawo-Olu for signing.
