NAF AIRSTRIKES KILL SCORES OF BOKO HARAM INSURGENTS, INJURE OTHERS IN SAMBISA FOREST

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has killed several Boko Haram Insurgents in Sambisa forest area of Borno State.


The operation was carried on Saturday, November 14, through multiple air strikes at Gabora and Sambisa South areas in the vicinity of the forest.


The Sambisa forest is known to be used by the Boko Haram Insurgents as logistics base as well as staging area to launch attacks.


It was gathered that the assailants were spotted under the dense vegetation of the locations.

Immediately, the Air Task Force of operation Lafiya Dole engaged the target areas with air strikes, leading to death of several insurgents, while some escaped with gunshot wounds.


The attack came three days after the Nigerian Army launched a manhunt for the fourth batch of 86 wanted Boko Haram insurgents.


The Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai along side the Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, on November 11, unveiled a banner showing photographs of the wanted insurgents at the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) Super Camp Chabal, close to the capital, Maiduguri.


Prominent on the list is the leader of the Boko Haram sect, Abubakar Shekau, who had been declared dead on a few occasions in the past.

Others are Abu Musa Al Barnawi, Modu Sulum, Malkam Umar, Mallam Bello Husba, Abu Musab Barnawi, Abu Imma, Ibrahim Abu Maryam, Baka Kwasari, Mallam Yan Kolo, Bana Gonna, Mohammed Abu Maryam, and Abu Dardda.


Prior to the manhunt launch, the NAF had killed several Boko Haram insurgents/ISWAP at Tumbum Allura in Borno State.


The operation was conducted on Sunday, November 8, following credible Human intelligence reports as well as aerial surveillance missions on the activities of insurgents in the area.


The assailants' hideout on the fringes of Lake Chad in Northern Kaduna was also destroyed through airstrikes executed by soldiers attached to the Air Task Force of Operation Lafiya Dole.
