NAF Destroys IED Factory, Terrorist Gun Trucks in Tumbuktu Triangle

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), under Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), has dealt a significant blow to terrorist elements operating within the Tumbuktu Triangle by destroying an improvised explosive device (IED) factory and multiple gun trucks during a precision airstrike on June 18, 2025.

The operation, which targeted Kwaltiri in Borno State, was launched following credible intelligence reports indicating heightened terrorist activity in the area. Surveillance assets confirmed the presence of a bomb-making facility and several vehicles used by the insurgents. NAF aircraft then conducted multiple precision strikes on the targets, resulting in the destruction of the facility and equipment, and the elimination of dozens of terrorist fighters.

According to military sources, the airstrike not only disrupted the insurgents’ logistics and command structures but also significantly weakened their operational morale and capability.

“This operation marks a major setback for terrorist groups in the region,” a senior NAF officer said. “We remain committed to degrading their capabilities and enhancing overall security in the North East.”

The latest success reinforces the Nigerian military’s determination to root out terrorism and ensure lasting peace across affected communities.
