NDDC CORRUPTION: LAWMAKERS ORDERS IGP TO ARREST NDDC MD

Lawmakers at the National Assembly have ordered the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, to immediately arrest the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Prof Kemebradikumo Daniel Pondei.

This comes after the NDDC MD stormed out on the lawmakers in Abuja on Thursday, July 16th, 2020.

The National Assembly lawmakers are investigating the alleged N40 billion irregular expenditure in the commission.

Prof. Pondei also accused the Chairman of the investigative committee, Rep. Olubunmi Tunji - Ojo of corruption.

Pondei questioned the credibility of the House committee Chairman, and said he had benefited from awards of contracts from the commission.

Angered at the walk-out, spokesperson for the House, Benjamin Kalu, moved a motion invoking section 89 of the 1999 constitution (as amended), to issue a warrant of arrest to the NDDC MD.
