NIGERIA CUSTOMS INTERCEPTS SHIPMENT OF ENDANGERED ANIMAL PARTS HEADING TO VIETNAM
Officers of the Nigerian Custom have intercepted a shipment of endangered animal parts including Ivory and Pangolin scales headed for Haiphong, Vietnam.
The items estimated to worth about N952 million and weighed 854,719 tonnes were contained in a 20 feet container with number CSLU 236240.
Mohammed Abba-Kura, Customs Comptroller on Tuesday, told journalists the items were falsely declared as furniture.

Upon physical examination, customs discovered 162 sacks of pangolin scales weighing 8,800kg and 56 sacks of mixed endangered species such as Ivory, lion bones, and lots more.
Abba-Kura disclosed that the incident happened on Thursday, January 21 and the agent linked to the consignment has been arrested.
