NIGERIA EXTENDS BAN ON ALL FLIGHTS BY FOUR WEEKS

The Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha has announced the ban on all flights will be extended by four weeks.


Mr Mustapha said this on Wednesday, May 6, during a press briefing, Mr Mustapha said: 

“We have assessed the situation in the aviation industry and have concluded that given the facts available to us, and based on the evidence of experts, the ban on all flights will be extended by an additional four weeks.”


The chairman said the decision was based on the recommendation from experts of the aviation industry to curb the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic in the country.

According to the Minister of Aviation Hadi Sirika who was present at during the press briefing, Nigerian airlines have lost close to N17 billion monthly since the ban. 


The Minister said: “We are the worst-hit than any other sector, N17 billion monthly is being lost by the airlines, thanks to COVID-19.”
