NIGERIAN ARMED FORCES BEGIN INVESTIGATION ON VIRAL VIDEO OF NAVAL RATING OFFICER
The Nigerian Military has commenced investigations on a purported viral video of a Naval rating officer identified as Navy Seaman Haruna Goshit, who narrated his ordeal in the hands of a senior naval officer.
Officer Seaman alleged that his boss in the Navy, Rear Admiral I.O Mohammed, has been severely maltreating him on different occasions.
He revealed that he had reported verbally to the authorities but nothing was done. He added that he had written several letters to the Commander of the Naval Unit, the Chief of Navy Staff, and the Chief of Defense Staff but they have all ignored him.
Below is the video where officer Seaman narrated different cases of his ordeal in the hands of Rear Admiral I.O Mohammed.
The Nigerian Military responded via a press release issued on Tuesday, July 14th, 2020, and signed by the Coordinator Defence Media Operations, Major General Paul Enenche.
The Military said efforts are being made to unravel the true state of affairs.
The release reads;
1. The attention of the Nigerian Military has been drawn to a video trending in some quarters alleging maltreatment of one Seaman Haruna Goshit (a naval rating) by a senior naval officer. In the viral video, the said naval rating stated how he was unjustly maltreated by a superior senior naval officer. However, in line with global best practices, the Military High Command has commenced investigation on the viral video with a view to unraveling the true state of affairs.
2. The general public is hereby notified that the outcome of the investigation will be made known when concluded.
