POLICE ARREST 32 SUSPECTS FOR VIOLENCE, CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES IN MINNA

The Niger State police command has arrested 32 suspects for violence and other criminal activities in Minna metropolis, Niger State.


This comes after hoodlums popularly referred to as 'Yan Sara Suka' of Ogbomoso and Limawa area of Minna clashed on January 21 at Lagos street and Unguwar-Daji areas using machetes, sticks, stones and other dangerous weapons. 


Security operatives were immediately deployed to the scene to restore normalcy and also arrest the hoodlums. However, a 39-year old shop owner along Ogbomoso road, Ifeanyi Patrick, was stabbed to death from the ensuing clash amongst the hoodlums.


The Police team arrested 14 suspects at the scene and calm was restored in the area. 18 other suspects were arrested after follow-up raids were conducted at Limawa, Unguwar-Daji, Unguwar-Sarki, Abayi-close and Kongila on January 22.


Weapons and exhibits recovered include; two saw blades, two cutlasses, two scissors, two knives, two catapults, two handsets, two sticks, and a cash sum of N77,560.


The suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCID) in Minna and will be arraigned in court once investigations are concluded.
