POLICE ESCORT KILLED, 3 CHINESE EMPLOYEES ABDUCTED IN OSUN

Three Chinese employees have been abducted and their police escort killed at a gold mining site in Osun State.

Eons Intelligence gathered that the employees were abducted on Monday at the Atakumosa area of the state following a dispute with local labourers.

However, police on Thursday said it is not yet certain who the kidnappers are as an investigation is still ongoing.

“We have also deployed our operatives to the surrounding bushes with a view to securing the release of the Chinese,” Yemisi Opalola, the Police Spokesperson in Osun state told journalists.

Kidnappings for ransom are becoming common in Nigeria with criminals targeting foreigners and prominent citizens.

Last year, four Chinese workers were kidnapped from a Quarry site in Cross River and their escort killed. The victims were rescued a month later.

A similar incident happened in December 2020 whereby gunmen kidnapped a Chinese engineer and killed his police escort. He was released after spending five days in captivity.
