POLICE SERVICE COMMISSION DISMISSES TEN SENIOR POLICE OFFICERS

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has dismissed ten senior police officers, while eight others have been demoted.

The dismissed officers include a Superintendent of Police (SP), five Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP), and four Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP).

The Commission also reduced the ranks of eight other police officers.

All 18 officers were punished for various cases of misconduct in the line of duty.

Spokesperson of the Police Service Commission, Ikechukwu Ani, made the announcement in a statement yesterday.

The spokesperson said the decision was taken at the Eight Plenary meeting which ended last week.

The statement reads; “A deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) and a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) were reduced in rank, a decision which also affected four Superintendents of Police (SP), one Deputy Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent of Police.

“The commission also approved the punishment of severe reprimand for 16 Officers, reprimand for 13 and letters of warning to four others. Two officers are to receive Letters of advice while eleven were exonerated.’’

Ani was however discreet on the identities of the dismissed officers.

Recall that Eons Intelligence reported on July 3rd that the PSC promoted 6,618 officers in its eight plenary session that ended last week.
