President Tinubu Reschedules Kaduna Trip, Set to Visit Benue Over Escalating Crisis

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has shifted his official visit to Kaduna State, initially scheduled for Wednesday, June 18, 2025, and will instead travel to Benue State on the same day in response to the deepening crisis plaguing communities in the region.

According to the Presidency, the change in itinerary reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to peacebuilding and addressing the ongoing insecurity in Benue, where recurring attacks have led to widespread killings, displacement, and destruction of property.

During his visit, the President is expected to engage key stakeholders—including traditional rulers, political and religious leaders, community representatives, and youth groups—in a town hall meeting aimed at charting a path toward lasting peace and reconciliation.

In anticipation of the visit, President Tinubu has dispatched a high-powered delegation to Benue comprising the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Inspector General of Police, the National Security Adviser, heads of intelligence agencies, and the Chairmen of the Senate and House Committees on Defence.

The President has repeatedly condemned the violence in Benue, urging all leaders and residents to promote unity, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence. He also extended his condolences to families affected by the conflict and assured them of the federal government’s unwavering support in restoring normalcy.

The Presidency further confirmed that the rescheduled visit to Kaduna State—originally intended for commissioning state government projects—will now take place on Thursday, June 19, 2025.
