SEVERAL ABDUCTED AS GUNMEN BLOCK ENUGU-PORT HARCOURT HIGHWAY,SET ARMY VAN ABLAZE
Scores of passengers were reportedly abducted over the weekend by gunmen who blocked the Enugu-Port Harcourt highway between Leru junction and Ihube axis.
Available report indicates that gunmen, numbering about 30, abducted the entire occupants of three buses.
The heavily armed gunmen are said to have attacked a team of soldiers deployed to the scene in response to a distress call.
They reportedly set the military van on fire and wounded two soldiers before herding all occupants of three buses they abducted into the bush.
The kidnapping of the Methodist Church Prelate, Dr. Samuel Uche, and two clerics in his entourage, for ransom, has ensued a nightmare dimension in the locality.
