Site Engineer Murdered in Delta by Workers Over Bank Account Funds
Authorities in Delta State have launched an investigation into the killing of a site engineer, Chigozie Udalor, allegedly murdered by his employees after they discovered he had a substantial amount of money in his account.
According to police reports, Hyacinth Nnalue reported to the Akwukwu-Igbo Division on December 12, 2024, that his cousin, Chigozie Udalor, had been missing since December 10. He explained that Udalor was managing his fish pond in Bod Camp, Akwukwu-Igbo community.
Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) initiated an inquiry before the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department. Under the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, CSP Aliyu Shaba of the Ekpan Division spearheaded a technically driven investigation.
On March 31, 2025, officers arrested David Tacho, who attempted to withdraw money from the victim’s account using his phone. Another suspect, Daniel Orshio, was also apprehended for his involvement in the crime.
Further investigations revealed that David Tacho’s brother, Victor Tacho, along with Pius Daniel (both currently at large) and Daniel Orshio, conspired to kill Udalor. The suspects, all employees of the deceased, allegedly discovered funds in his Moniepoint account and devised a plan to rob him. They reportedly attacked him with a hammer, tied him up, and buried him in a shallow grave at the site.
While two suspects remain in police custody, efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing individuals. Meanwhile, the victim’s body has been exhumed and is awaiting an autopsy.
