Stop-and-Search Operation Yields Arrests, 25 Stolen Phones Recovered in Festive Crackdown
The Borno State Police Command has intensified its crime prevention efforts to ensure a secure environment during the festive season. In a recent operation, the Command arrested two suspects and recovered 25 stolen mobile phones.
On December 10, 2024, at approximately 1:50 PM, officers of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) intercepted two young men during a stop-and-search operation along Damboa Road, Maiduguri. The suspects, identified as 18-year-old Ibrahim Abubakar and Ibrahim Mohammed, were found in possession of 25 mobile phones of various models, concealed in their tricycle.
During interrogation, the suspects admitted to stealing the phones from individuals in communities and villages along the Borno-Adamawa State border, including Mubi Town, Tashan Alade, Miringa, Kwaya Kusar, and Biu Local Government Area.
The Command has confirmed that the suspects will be charged to court following the completion of investigations. Efforts are underway to return the recovered phones to their rightful owners.
Commissioner of Police Yusufu Mohammed Lawal, psc, reiterated the Command's commitment to maintaining public safety and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
