TERRORISTS, COLLABORATORS AND SPONSORS MUST BE EXPOSED, FLUSHED OUT AND DESTROYED- BURATAI

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai, has charged senior military officers and operational commanders to brace up towards exposing, flushing out and destroying terrorists and their sponsors.


The Acting Director, Army Public Relations Officer, Col Sagir Musa, disclosed this in a statement briefing newsmen on the outcome of Buratai's meeting with Principal Staff Officers, General Officers Commanding, and Field Commanders held at the Army Headquarters, Abuja, on Monday, June 22, 2020.


While speaking at the meeting, Buratai said it was a wakeup call in the effort to combat Boko Haram terrorists, North West banditry, and the Myriad of other security challenges across the country.


The meeting focused on the state of counter-terrorism and other Internal Security Operations in Nigeria and measures to be put in place by Commanders, Officers and men to halt security threats in the country.


General Buratai directed all officers and men of the Nigerian Army to ensure that the charge given by President Muhammadu Buhari on security challenges across the country is fully implemented so as to crush Boko Haram terrorists and other bandits speedily.


"The criminal and their collaborators and sponsors must be exposed, flushed out and destroyed", Buratai ordered.


The COAS further stated that the Nigerian Army had commenced major reorganization of her operations for optimal performances.


Eons Intelligence, in its publication on Thursday, June 18, 2020, reported that President Muhammadu Buhari expressed his dissatisfaction over rising insecurity in the country as he faults security agencies for giving excuses rather than providing results.


The president warned the heads of the nation's security agencies that excuses would no longer be tolerated and asked them to do more to secure the country and its people.

Buratai ordered all commanders to lead the charge by being out in the field to oversee the operations effectively.


Buratai warned that he wants to see all-encompassing positive changes in the Nigerian Army operations and the security situation in the country.


"There is no time for complacency, no time for excuses, and there will be no tolerance for shortcomings or failures, the situation must be reversed immediately," the COAS threatened. 


The meeting decided to hold the 2020 Nigerian Army Day celebration in Katsina State during which a major Army exercise nicknamed EXERCISE SAHEL SANITY would be conducted.

Buratai assured Nigerians that the army would continue to collaborate with other security agencies to ensure that terrorism, banditry, and other security threats are curbed in the country.
