Troops Achieve Major Breakthrough Against Terrorists in Zamfara and Sokoto States
Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have recorded significant victories against terrorist elements operating in Zamfara and Sokoto States, neutralizing dozens of fighters, including several high-profile kingpins, between February 1 and 10, 2025.
Among the notorious terrorists eliminated in the operations were Kachalla Na Faransa, Dogon Bakkwalo, Auta Gobaje, and Dan Mai Dutsi. These insurgents were killed in intense engagements across Shinkafi and Zurmi Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Zamfara State, as well as Isa LGA of Sokoto State. The successful offensives have weakened the terrorist networks by dismantling their operational and support structures.
Troops also targeted and destroyed approximately 40 terrorist enclaves, with key locations such as Tungar Fulani, Unguwar Goga, Gangara Hill, and Gidan Maji cleared of criminal elements. This strategic action has further disrupted the logistical and operational capacity of terror groups in the Northwest region.
In addition to neutralizing terrorists, the troops recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition, preventing their use in future attacks. The military also rescued dozens of kidnapped victims, reinforcing efforts to restore peace and security in the affected communities.
As Operation FANSAN YAMMA continues its offensive against terrorism, security forces have urged the public to provide intelligence on fleeing insurgents, particularly notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji and his associates. The military assured that all information shared will be treated with the utmost confidentiality and encouraged citizens to support efforts to combat insecurity.
