Troops arrest Sudanese, Ghanaian nationals in Borno over suspected terror links
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested two foreign nationals in Borno State over suspected links to terrorist activities during an intelligence-led counter-terrorism operation.
The suspects, identified as 32-year-old Sudanese national Musa Fashir and 36-year-old Ghanaian woman Mary Florence, were apprehended by troops of the 115 Task Force Battalion in the Lassa–Dille general area of Askira/Uba Local Government Area at about 11:48 a.m. on Sunday.
According to the military, preliminary intelligence suggests that Fashir is a suspected foreign terrorist fighter and collaborator with possible links to insurgent elements operating in Nigeria's North-East. Florence, meanwhile, claimed to be an illegal immigrant, although security agencies are investigating the circumstances surrounding her presence in the area and verifying her claims.
The Acting Military Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Capt. Muhammed Goni, said both suspects remain in military custody and are undergoing profiling and interrogation to establish their identities, determine the extent of their activities and ascertain any possible connections to terrorist or transnational criminal networks.
The military said the arrests highlight the effectiveness of its intelligence-driven operations and reaffirm its commitment to dismantling terrorist logistics, financing and support networks across the North-East.
Operation Hadin Kai also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies, stressing that public cooperation remains vital to restoring lasting peace and security in the region.
