Troops Arrest Suspected Cattle Rustlers, Recover Weapons in Plateau
Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 3 Division/Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace (JTF OPEP) have arrested two suspected cattle rustlers and recovered arms and ammunition during an operation in Plateau State.
The operation, which took place on September 11, 2025, was based on credible intelligence that led soldiers to the suspects’ hideout in Kogul village, Mangu Local Government Area.
Items recovered from the suspects include one AK-47 rifle, an AK-47 magazine, a fabricated revolver rifle, ten rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a mobile phone, and cash.
The Army confirmed that the arrested individuals and recovered items are in custody for further investigation, while follow-up operations are ongoing to track down other members of the criminal network.
Military authorities described the arrest as a major breakthrough in efforts to curb cattle rustling, a recurring crime that has fueled violent conflicts in parts of Plateau and other states in the Joint Operations Area.
