Troops Arrest Suspected Militia, Recover AK-47 Rifle and Ammunition in Plateau State

Troops of 3 Division/Operation SAFE HAVEN have arrested a suspected militia member and recovered weapons and ammunition during a night patrol in Plateau State.


The operation, which took place on 6th July 2025 along Kafi Abu–Rakwok Road in Gashish District, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, led to the interception of the suspect who was discovered in an ambush position, allegedly intending to attack unsuspecting commuters.

A search of the suspect led to the recovery of one fabricated AK-47 rifle, an AK-47 magazine, and 30 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition.


The suspect, along with the recovered weapon and ammunition, is currently in custody as troops conduct further investigations and follow-up operations to track down other members of the criminal syndicate.


Troops of 3 Division/Operation SAFE HAVEN have intensified efforts to curb the proliferation of illegal firearms and dismantle criminal networks threatening the security of the Joint Operations Area.


The military has urged residents to provide timely, actionable information to support ongoing security operations and safeguard communities across the region.
