Troops Foil Attacks in Bokkos, Recover Arms and Ammunition in Plateau
Troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), under the ongoing Operation LAFIYAN JAMA’A, successfully repelled militia attacks on multiple communities in Bokkos Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State on April 2, 2025. The affected areas include Tamiso, Daffo, Manguna, Taddai, and Hurti.
During the confrontation, troops engaged the attackers, overwhelming them and forcing them to abandon an AK-47 rifle and six motorcycles. Blood traces were observed along the criminals’ escape route, suggesting possible casualties among the attackers.
Continuing their operations, troops conducted a clearance mission on April 3 at Hurti community, targeting militia activities in the surrounding mountainous areas. The troops engaged the criminals with heavy gunfire, forcing them to flee. A search of the area led to the recovery of a locally fabricated pistol, six rounds of 9mm ammunition, and four motorcycles. Security forces remain in control of the area, pursuing the fleeing suspects.
In a separate operation on April 3, troops from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Gashish launched an offensive at Dome Hill, Rahul Mazat, and Anguwa Mamuda in Barkin Ladi LGA. Acting on intelligence, they raided a known criminal hideout, recovering a fabricated revolver rifle, one round of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, and N89,800 in cash. However, the suspects had escaped before the troops arrived. Efforts are ongoing to track and apprehend them.
Additionally, on April 3, troops of Sector 2 OPSH, in collaboration with local vigilantes, launched an offensive against bandits along Kampani Zurak Road in Wase LGA. The operation led to the neutralization of one bandit and the recovery of an AK-47 rifle magazine, a motorcycle, and other items. Security forces are currently pursuing the remaining fleeing bandits.
Operation SAFE HAVEN remains committed to curbing the activities of criminal elements and ensuring the protection of lives and property within the Joint Operations Area.
