TROOPS KILL SEVERAL BANDITS IN AIR OPERATION IN ZAMFARA
Troops of the Air Component of Operation Hadarin Daji invaded and destroyed another bandits camp and killed several bandits at Kwayanbana Forest in Zamfara, the Defence Headquarters said.
John Enenche, the Coordinator, Defence Media Operations made this known in a statement released on Tuesday, June 9, in Abuja.
Enenche said the Air attack was launched on June 7, following Intelligence reports and series of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) that revealed the hideouts of the bandits.
He added that the discovered cave housed the armed bandits and their notorious kingpin, Dogo Gede.
Speaking further, the Coordinator said the air component dispatched a force package of attack aircraft and helicopter gunships to engage the location, leading to the destruction of the makeshift structures, as well as the killing of several bandits.
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, commended the Air Component of Operation HADARIN DAJI for their professionalism.
He urged them to remain resolute in the conduct of airstrikes, whilst continuing to provide close air support for ongoing ground operations in order to eradicate all bandits.
He emphasized that the main purpose of launching attacks following the directives of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen. Gabriel Olonisokin is to restore normalcy in the West and North Central Zones of Nigeria.
