TROOPS KILL SEVERAL BANDITS, RESCUE KIDNAPPED VICTIMS AND RECOVER RUSTLED ANIMALS IN SOKOTO AND ZAMFARA STATES

Troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI have killed scores of bandits, rescued kidnapped victims, and recovered rustled animals in Sokoto and Zamfara States. 


Major General John Enenche, Coordinator Defence Media Operations Defence Headquarters, disclosed this in a statement released on Sunday, July 12, 2020.


Enenche said the operation was carried out on July 11, following credible intelligence that the armed bandits rustled an unconfirmed number of cows around Daki Takwas and Tashar Kuturu in Anka and Talata Mafara Local Government Areas of Zamfara State. 


"Troops tactically deployed to the scene. Contact was made with the armed bandits. The determined troops overwhelmed the recalcitrant bandits with superior fire," Enenche revealed. 


He added that the scores were killed during the attack, while others escaped with gunshot wounds.

Troops recovered 302 rustled cows and 412 sheep, alongside one empty magazine and 5 mobile phones. 


The General noted that efforts are ongoing to hand over the animals to the owners. 


Similarly, the troops rescued 3 kidnapped victims in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State. Also, two other kidnapped victims were rescued by the gallant soldiers at Yayi village in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of the State. 


"The victims on interrogation stated that they were kidnapped on June 1, 2020."


He said that the victims have been handed over to the Sokoto State Government for further interrogation.

Also, on July 10, same soldiers arrested 5 members of Yan Sakai group and a gun fabricator alongMaga-Kyabu-Tadurga village road. 


The troops recovered one motorcycle, 10 Dane guns, one catapult, one knife,  one saw, 16 plugs, one axe, and 3 mobile phones from the criminals. 


The Military High Command commended the troops for their dedication and unwavering commitment towards the fight against banditry in the North-West region of Nigeria. 


He also urged them to remain committed and sustain the onslaught against the enemies of our country.
