TROOPS KILL TWO BANDITS, INJURE SEVERAL FIGHTERS

Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke have killed two bandits and injured several fighters in a makeshift camp at the outskirt of Arufu area of Taraba State. 


Major General John Enenche, Coordinator of Defence Media Operations Defence Headquarters made this known in a statement issued on Saturday, July 11, 2020. 


Enenche said that the attack was launched following Human Intelligence on the infiltration of armed herdsmen on July 10 at Chambe community in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State where 2 villagers were killed.

According to him, the troops from Tomatar and Gov/Afia swiftly were deployed at the scene but the bandits have fled the area.

Speaking further, the Defence spokesman revealed that the troops trailed the armed bandits to neighbouring Taraba.

"On sighting the troops, the armed bandits opened fire, troops overwhelmed the criminals with high-intensity fire, killing 2 of them while others fled in disarray with gunshots wounds. 


The troops recovered one AK 47 rifle as well as 10 rounds of 7.62mm Special from the criminals. 


"Additionally, the gallant troops have dominated the area conducting clearance patrol from Arufu to Akwana in order to rid the general area of any untoward activities," Enenche said. 


The High Command of the Armed Forces of Nigeria congratulated the gallant troops for their dexterity and encouraged them to remain resolute in curtailing the activities of criminal elements in the North-Central Zone of Nigeria.
